Important Flood Advice – Update 20 October 2022 (4pm)

Fortunately the rainfall has been light, with the current river level at 7.35m. The predicted flood level from the latest advice is still 8.4m, which is less than the 2012 floods and comparable to the 2016 event.
Council is continuing with its preparations and monitoring the impending flooding predicted for Hay. Council staff will closed off flood gates as the river rises, and pumps have been set up accordingly to remove any water from rainfall.
Council crews have commenced monitoring of the levees and inspecting known hot spots, and will have staff patrolling at night from tonight.
Water levels in both Booligal and Maude are being monitored and assistance provided where required, as well as any road closures.
If you require flood assistance please contact SES on 132500. Please do not attempt to cross or drive through floodwaters.
Please only rely on official advice provided by the SES and/or Hay Shire Council. Council will provide regular updates as further information comes to hand.
