Important Flood Advice - Update 4 November 2022
Update 4 November 2022 (3pm)
Current River height: 8.21m and steady.
Rainfall: Next week’s forecast looks reasonable, with some showers anticipated on Sunday evening, as well as later next week.
Predicted River Peak: The BOM website indicates the river may peak again at 8.6m 13-15 November, and we anticipate further peaks a few weeks later. Last week’s peak was 8.68m.
Flood Levee: Closed off 8 flood gates and have 27 pumps set up accordingly to remove any water from rainfall. Flood gates continued to be opened as the river level falls. We ask for patience as staff start pumps to remove water built up from any rainfall, especially if have there is short sharp rainfall event.
Council crews: Continuing to monitor the levees and inspecting known hot spots, and have staff patrolling 24hrs a day. Council staff have undertaken further assessment of the Maude Levee to help prepare the village for upcoming peaks.
Water levels in both Booligal and Maude are being monitored and assistance provided where required. The water is falling in Maude and crews are on hand as required. We are expecting large inflows from the lower Mirrool Creek and Lachlan River over the coming days and weeks.
Council has undertaken aerial survey of the northern and western areas of the LGA this week, and is subsequently in discussions with Resilience NSW regarding assistance to effected rural landowners.
Road Closures: The following roads are closed due to water over road, however local residents can still access with caution;
🔸 Old Thelangerin Road
🔸 Alma Road
🔸 Boxyards Road
🔸 Nap Nap Road
🔸 Hay Weir Road
🔸 Ti-Tree Road
🔸 Sidonia Road
🔸 Lara Road
🔸 Romani Road
🔸 Jerilderie Road
❗️There is water over the Maude Road in several places, as well as Midwestern Highway and the Cobb Highway north of Booligal is closed. We remind people to drive to the conditions and that water can create hidden hazards on the roads.
If you require flood assistance please contact SES on 📞132 500.
❌Please do not attempt to cross or drive through floodwaters or along/across the top of the levee bank system.
Please only rely on official advice provided by the SES and/or Hay Shire Council.
Council will provide regular updates as further information comes to hand.
