The Hay Special Achievement Award recognises the achievements of an inspirational and outstanding person/s, or group who makes Hay a better place to live.
Guidelines and Criteria
Eligibility Criteria:
- Nominees must be Australian citizens and residing in Hay Shire at the time of nomination or if not living in the Shire any person who has demonstrated a long term contribution to the Community.
- Nominees may not nominate themselves.
- Awards will not be granted posthumously.
- Unsuccessful nominees may be re-nominated in subsequent years.
How to Nominate:
To nominate a person, persons or a group for Hay Special Achievement Award, please complete the attached nomination form. The nomination should detail the nature, duration and impact of the nominee’s contribution to Hay Shire.
In assessing a nomination, the judging panel may consider:
- Achievements in the year immediately prior to the nomination of the Award, as well as consideration of their past achievements, longevity of service and ongoing contribution to the Hay community.
- Broad community involvement.
- The benefit to the community from the nominee’s service and contribution.
- Other recognition of the nominee’s contribution or work, including publicity.
- Whether the nominee has had to overcome any particular difficulties or hurdles.
The judging panel may contact the nominator and referee for further information. Please ensure contact details are correct. Incorrect details may render the nomination invalid.
Nominations close Friday 15th December 2023
Award recipients will be announced at the Australia Day Commemoration Service on Thursday 26 January 2024. It is expected that the nominator and nominee would be in attendance.
The selection of award recipients will reflect nominations received and information available to the Judging Panel at the time. Judging will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
